Board Minutes for February 4, 2011

The meeting was called to order by Bill Ringbom, President, at 4:15 p.m. Board Members Sonia Arsene, Mary Neal, Judy Obermeier, Bill Ringbom, Dolores Soll, and Jean Wilson were present, as well as Barbara Weiss, Manager. Gene Edgerton was absent.

Minutes of the January 14, 2011 meeting were reviewed and approved.

Treasurer’s Report: Our bank balance as of January 31, 2011 was $1,601.25. With 105 tables in January, the net income for the month was $55.36. This compares to 89 tables for January last year.

Club Manager’s Report: (1) Barbara now has a working key for the kitchen. (2) The computer seemed to be working well today. Barbara had taken it to be repaired but they could not find a problem with it even though it functioned erratically last week. The printer has not been checked. (3) To deal with the problem of the homeless woman who has been around on Wednesday evenings, sometimes in the kitchen, Barbara is arranging to have the building locked at 6:15. The building, although open to the public during the day, is officially closed to everyone except bridge club members on Wednesday evenings.

Old Business: (1) Bill will be discussing Wednesday evening lessons with Torre. (2) At the Unit meeting, Bill suggested a committee to collect money and to plan and purchase refreshments for the Sectional Tournament. We will continue as in the past this year but have a committee set up for next year. (3) The SLO Club is responsible for morning and afternoon refreshments at the Sectional on Sunday, February 27. The Unit is providing lunch. We need to let Pat Orlando know who will work with the food set-up that day. Sonia Arsene and Jean Wilson volunteered. Today we collected the names of volunteers who will bring refreshments and collected $93. in donations. Barbara and Sonia will continue to ask for volunteers to provide snacks or donate money next week. The Unit will also give us $50. Barbara and Sonia will do the necessary shopping.

New Business: There was no new business.

The meeting was adjourned at 4:45 p.m. The next meeting will be after the game on Friday,

March 4.
