The meeting was called to order by Bill Ringbom, President, at 3:55 p.m. Present were Board Members Bill Ringbom, Mary Neal, Dolores Soll, and Jean Wilson, as well as Barbara Weiss, Manager.

Minutes of the March 6, 2009 meeting were reviewed and approved.

Treasurer’s Report: Mary reported a bank balance of $3,502.02. Expenses for the month exceeded income by $147.32. Income was down (94 tables only) because of cancelled games and expenses were high due to paying Kandi’s director fees, which would ordinarily have been paid after April 1, prior to her departure.

Club Manager’s Report: (1) The Senior Center has been getting calls for bridge lessons. (2) Paso Robles is starting Monday night lessons and a game. (3) Bill will continue with the Monday evening lessons and game for the time being. (4) Torre is willing to teach, not necessarily on Wednesday evenings. She is teaching on Thursday mornings in Arroyo Grande. (5) The Department of Recreation and Parks schedule is out but doesn’t include our bridge schedule. Barbara will check on getting us into the guide. (6) The Unit is working through Barbara to set up once-a-month Saturday games in San Luis Obispo.

There was considerable discussion about ways to attract more players, especially to the Wednesday evening games. Bill is working with the Monday evening group, encouraging them to participate in the Wednesday evening game or in a separate game on Monday afternoons. Barbara would like to have a lesson before Monday’s game and, if possible, a beginner game concurrent with the open game on Monday afternoons.

Our regular May 1 meeting is cancelled because of the Sectional Tournament in Santa Maria. The next scheduled meeting will be Friday, June 5, after the game. An earlier meeting can be called if there is a need.
